Ishvara Peacock Shrinathji Pendant

At the centre of this pendant rests a hand-finished carving of Shrinathji in deep black, the tilak, eyes and features picked out in fine painted detail. Around it unfolds a paisley of pave-set stones, its outer edge resolving into the curved neck and crest of a peacock — a motif that has run through Indian ornamental craft for centuries. The rose gold-tone metalwork holds the entire composition in one continuous sweep.

The colour work is where this piece earns its presence. Emerald-green pears open like petals along the crown and lower arc, coral-red beads gather down one side while soft jade beads answer them on the other, and a scatter of pearls settles at the base before three carved coral drops fall free beneath filigree caps.
